Just forget it went around

at Mornington in the Guineas (a) it drew the outside which meant it would have to be ridden for luck and that is what I think Nugent decided at least 1000m out but staying on fence was strange in a big field unless he felt they would fan out on turn and he would get a run through. Stewards report he...

Forget run

After a quietly impressive first up fourth at MV this bloke was not same horse at Flemington on Saturday. Jockey did not know what was wrong and so it would seem everyone is in the dark. Well just a theory but perhaps the horse is not happy being stuck away on rails and needs to be one or two out an...

Pierro filly in stable

Noticed Col bought a Pierro filly on the first day of the Premier Sales. She is out of a Hussonet mare with Danehill blood in the veins also so I think would have cost more than the $80,000 had she been not a late foal. Was born in November so being late I am sure that is why price was so reasonable...

Re: The Big Sur

Got the impression the near heavy on Saturday did not suit this bloke. Appeared to be labouring a bit 800 out and whether it was because they began to quicken on the pace or he has flatfooted a bit till he can get some momentum is another thing. Certainly would not dismiss him on this run and I also...

LL buy half to Vassilator

Col went to $160,000 for the half brother to Vassilator at the Karaka Sales a few days ago. This colt is by Mongolian Khan, winner of the NZ and Australian Derbies and one would imagine he will give the colt some of his staying ability. If so this could be one to watch because not only was Vassilato...

Re: No Commitment very committed

Well should now be ready to win a race but possibly at 1800-2000m. Got a bit lost under pressure in straight till last 50-00m when he was coming again. I think he is better than lot of scribes might think

Re: Kazio

Honest as they come and again like at Flemington previous start, looked winner with about 100-50m to go. Just got swamped again but now passed $300,000 in stakemoney so he has done his job again this campaign.

Re: Our Campana

Two thoughts...she probably needed to be a bit closer to the lead as she has been previous starts but then she had made up ground strongly in run home suggesting she now wants further than 1100m.

Re: No Commitment very committed

Well he has had two runs back now but that run last night at Pakenham was better than the sixth placing. For a start Thompson probably by design did not want to get trapped wide with the big weight but then ended up at the rear and I reckon at about the 800-600m mark was at least 12-14 lengths off t...

Re: The Big Sur

Big run at Pakenham second up over the 1600m. He is not a big horse so to finish so quickly with 60kgs shows he appears to have returned from injury in a good way. at one stage he must have been 11-12 lengths off leaders and even on turn was giving them a handy start so to go down by less than two l...

Re: Our Campana

Thought this was a very soft win. McNeil is riding so well at present and opted not to get into a battle for lead and took the sit and just a matter of getting a run in straight. Looked a bit ominous for a while but when he shifted out and got clear running she responded quickly and so well that McN...

Re: Kazio

Usual honest run. Looked very good in the ring before going out. Might have been a touch slow out and thus had to be revved up a bit to get up as close as Williams would have liked. Was never going to beat the winner who is going like a top class galloper particularly at this distance. Just get impr...

Re: Our Campana

Williams ride on her yesterday at Flemington shows why he is a top jock. Just bided his time when it was time to get going and judged the mare's run to a nicety. Now shown she can handle and run really well at both Flemington and Sandown and this being a Benchmark 84 she probably is looking to step ...

Re: Kazio

Coujld not believe the odds about this bloke at Pakenham yesterday. Always is thereabouts in first few runs after a spell but more importantly had never been unplaced at 1400m and that is in about 10 goes at the journey. Full honours to the winner who incidentally had been nommed or accepted in two ...

Re: Kazio

Looks like he has come back as good as ever and in that being such a consistent horse. Have not heard too much about the lass that rode him last night but fact he still ended up carrying 63kg and conceded everything weight and some a fair bit of weight yet wasn't too far from winner and his LL stabl...
