Racenet has a bit about horses carrying 61kg or more since 2013 at Rosehill and only 6.8% have been successful and only one this year. Now being the age I am I can remember when highweights were on race programs and that sort of weight would have been prevalent but highweights were mostly for horses that were not up to open class or indeed welter class. They say weight will stop a train and I have to agree ...certainly great horses can win with big imposts because they are much better than their opposition but the benchmark system today means a lot of horses trying to progress in the provincials have to carry weight that in my humble opinion not only is hard to carry but I would imagine can harm them particularly if run on very soft or heavy ground. Love to see stats Australia wide now for same thing as Rosehill
